I used to be super obsessed with string searching algorithms for no particular reason. I'm no longer able to hold long conversations about the finer points of Knuth-Morris-Pratt implementation details, but I still think they're cool.

I once contributed code to a string searching algorithm page on Wikipedia and spent a couple weeks defending it from stupid changes (at least one of which caused the code to output incorrect results). I gave up due to school demands. To this day I have difficulty looking at that page. It's bad for my blood pressure.
