Toronto Parking Ticket Data Analysis and Visualization
An interactive visualisation of parking ticket data published by the Toronto Open Data Catalogue , using 2016 data. Analysis was done in Julia, and visualization and interactivity with Leaflet.js. Users can view parking ticket data by finding and clicking on a street.
Tools: Julia, Javascript with Leaflet.js, and .NET Core.1
Update! I have ported my API over to be served with .NET Core, and the web app is live again!

On the persistence of auxin patterns with external forcing
Using a large system of ordinary differential equations to model a unit-discrete system (in this case, plant cells), we gain insight into the spatial and temporal behaviour of the system. We extended previous research by considering external forcing. AMATH 382 final project.
Tools: Python with Matplotlib, SciPy, NumPy. Ordinary Differential Equations.

I’m a bit into a month and a half of Duolingo and it’s starting to become a little annoying, but I can’t say it taught me nothing. This is contrary to what most people say on the internet about Duolingo as a language learning tool. I know it’s not a lot, but I can already recognize simple kanji (e.g., 何、今、寿司、行く) that are used pretty frequently.

Three Waves Later: Happy Birthday to My Sourdough Starter
Today is the birthday of my sourdough starter, Melbert. What kind of name is that? I’m not sure.
Around this time a year ago (probably a bit earlier, as I tend to be late to the party) most of my bubble of the internet seemed to be obsessed with baking bread. I quite like the idea of creating something so awesome from so little. But finding flour was a struggle, and yeast was basically nonexistent.
