The Closed Society
There was once a traveller named Aiken who was lost for years and
circled the world for a suitable community. Through his travels he
heard of a great society where everyone was kind and generous. By the
luck of the draw Aiken eventually found himself at the gates of this
society. The gate was guarded by two giants one with a shield and
another with a sword. The traveller being very experiecned with city
gates decide to hide behind an old oak tree to see how citizens of the
city pass through the gates. Through three sunsets the traveller waited
until an female aristocrate approached the gates. The gates were closed
at that moment so the well dressed female pulled out a key and opened
the gates to walk through them, without any interuption by the giant
guards. Aiken decided to wait to see if anyone else would enter or exit
the city. In a short amount time the same female aristocrate exited the gate
and addressed the two giant guards. With a scolding attitude and a pointing
finger the aristocrate seemed to give both guards a brief lecture and then
quickly turned and ran away. In the time it took for a fox to catch a rabbit,
as the sun set again, a group of children of a variety of ages exited the
gate and dispersed randomly from the guarded gate. Once the children
disappeared into the dusk, a sleep-deprived Aiken approach and passed
through the gate without hinderance by saying,
"Why did your captain leave the gate open for all the children to escape?".
