To whom it may concern:

This letter is intended to serve as testimony to the long-term conjugal relationship shared by
Peter Keene and Shelly Springer. I was privileged to witness the beginnings of their relationship
in December 2003, in Sydney, Australia.

In September 2003, Shelly left Canada on a back-packing tour of South-East Asia, intending
to arrive in Australia in November, and work there for a year before returning home to Canada.
I was planning a vacation to New Zealand and Australia in the December-January timeframe,
so we planned to meet in Sydney and celebrate the New Year. All went as planned, but
shortly after we met on December 29th, she was telling me about this guy she had met.
They ended up spending New Year's Eve together, and I didn't meet him until January 4th, at
which point it was clear that they were in love. The accompanying photo was taken on that
night - Shelly and Pete are the couple in the foreground, and I am in the white shirt on the right.

I left Sydney to return home to Canada on January 7th, but continued to receive occasional
emails from Shelly, all clearly indicating that she and Pete were still together, and still in love.
Her immediate family had been sure that she would be too homesick to remain much longer,
and perhaps without Pete that would have been true. As it was, she stayed in Australia as
long as her visa and tickets would allow, and she made sure that when she did return home
in late 2004, Pete would not be far behind. Since he followed her shortly after, they have lived
together in Canada as a happy couple, recently deepening their commitment to each other
by engaging to be married.
