MyJEMM is a public domain utility for running the game Privateer under Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. It does not work with Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. MyJEMM works by emulating under Windows the JEMM memory manager used by Privateer. This utility has only been tested with the CD release of Privateer. It also has only been tested with Windows 98 and Windows ME, though should in principle also work under Windows 95.
MyJEMM has preliminary support for Wing Commander: Armada and Strike Commander, which use a similar version of JEMM to the one that Privateer uses, but these games have not been fully tested. MyJEMM is not needed to run Wing Commander 3, as it uses a completely different version of JEMM that is compatible with Windows as is.

Read the file README.TXT included in the distribution for instructions on how to install and use MyJEMM. The Privateer icons are provided for use in making shortcuts to run Privateer and aren't necessary to use MyJEMM. The source code isn't complete and can't be used to build MyJEMM. It's intended only for those who are curious how MyJEMM works.
MyJEMM doesn't work under Windows XP/2000/NT, and can't be forced or tricked to run under these operating systems by any means. To play Privateer using operating systems other than Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME try using DOSBox. Version 0.61 of DOSBox adds the necessary features to its CPU emulator to run Privateer and other games that use JEMM. Since DOSBox also supports Linux, MacOS X and BeOS it should also now be possible to run Privateer under these operating systems.
